Since 2018, AFFOA in partnership with MIT & FIT have developed a two-week workshop aimed at building awareness among undergraduate students, particularly engineers and fashion designers, of the benefits and opportunities in the advanced textile space. The program uses a transdisciplinary approach, bringing engineers and designers together, to inspire the design and use of advanced fibers and fabrics in an application and project-based format.

This year, we are wrapping up the workshop with a short networking event to celebrate the students’ hard work as well as introduce our membership to the workforce of the future. We would love to have you join us for this networking session. It will be hosted on Friday, 1/14/22, from 1:30-2:30PM EST via Zoom. We hope you can join us, and meet the future workforce in e-textiles and wearables.

The event will feature a quick overview of the program, and a short version of the students’ outputs from the industry prototyping challenge. The industry challenge this year comes from Ministry of Supply and challenges students to update the Ministry of Supply women’s pant and men’s shirt to meet the consumer expectations of a post pandemic lifestyle where clothing and the definition of what people wear has transformed to demand a new criteria of modern comfort using smart and advanced textile materials.
